I was working with the Congolese last weekend (1st June).
Went back on Sat June 7th with French books etc. Was not allowed in.
What is the situation now? Are the people being fed? When will volunteers be allowed back in the camp?
I speak french, had some experience supporting families of youngsters charged with public violence in 80′s. Worked with a group of Congolese last year- ran literacy classEmployed as maths lecturer at UWC. Available at weekends. Live at Lakeside.

I can work any day during the week. I have a small vehicle and can get by with very very basic French. I work in TV production so my strongest skills are organizational, but I would be happy to volunteer in any capacity required. 083 267 6884

I have a child’s wooden bed base and an extra length mattress to donate but don’t have a vehicle that can take it to Soetwater. I dropped off the mattress that goes with the bed base a few weeks ago with some other stuff. I also have children’s clothes which I have collected. I am in St James. I can drop off the clothes but f there is anyone who could fetch the bed and mattress, I would be grateful.

I could do origami with some children at Soetwater. Prefer to be part of the team looking after the children. Only after this friday as I have no car at the moment.

I am in Cape Town until 26th July and am happy to assist whenever needed before that. I work on refugee and asylum issues in the UK and have been involved for the past 4 years – as a volunteer, not paid professional. I am quite experienced in most aspects of the refugee process now and have done lots of research on country information to support peoples’ legal claims, mostly on the following African countries: DRC & Congo (Brazzaville), Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, Angola & Cabinda, Zimbabwe, Niger, Sudan, Malawi, Togo, Nigeria. I speak very basic French and few welcoming words in many lanuages! I have contacts from amongst a network of people active on these issues in the UK who might be called upon for advice or for networking.
